Our learning environments

The Hospital School Westmead operates on a flexible approach to best meet the needs of the students attending our school. Upon enrolment, we will discuss your options and choose the most appropriate learning environment for each student.

Classrooms

Our classrooms are supportive and safe learning spaces, designed to meet the varying needs of all of our students.  We have four classrooms co-located across two hospital settings.

  • Primary classroom on level 2 (Kindergarten to Year 6)
  • High School classroom on level 1 (Years 7 to 12)
  • Hall Ward class on level 1 (a joint facility with the Department of Health to cater for students admitted to the Hall Ward Program)
  • High School class at Westmead Adults Hospital, for hospitalised adolescents- Block A level 4C.

Ward teaching

We have ward teachers available to teach one-to-one by the bedside for students who are unable to attend the classroom.
